I purchased a pair of culottes late last year and I adore them so much that they have been replicated, though this pair is a little longer – more cropped pants than culottes. I used New Look 6459, but modified them slightly – lowering the rise, widening the leg and adding elastic along the back rather than a zipper. I’ll show you that in a future post – it’s really neat and slick.
Seriously comfy. Seriously practical. This fabric is a stretch pant weight denim, which I think I purchased from Tessuti, maybe a year or so ago. It’s a remnant from a pair of trousers that are still sitting in my UFO pile. I just don’t feel like wearing my skinny leg work trousers these days, so am still trying to figure out how to make them wearable.
With these new higher waist, wider leg pants, I have had to rethink my style in tops. These cropped pants definitely look better with a shorter top or one that will tuck in. I have made a few and now that I’ve figured out how to fit in a quick blog shoot in the morning before school, you will see them soon. I know the photos aren’t ideal, but they are better than no photos and no blog posts. I have a severe backlog of projects to blog – I will be back!
