Vogue 1351

Despite having firm plans for my holiday sewing time, I just couldn’t resist a seriously unseasonal impulse make!

I spied this poly jersey at Spotlight on the weekend and immediately thought of Vogue 1351, which I knew was winging its way to me after the recent Vogue sale. I just love this fabric with it’s deep blue, sky blue, pink and mustard blotches, and purchased it even though it was not on sale!! Seriously – who does that??

When the girl was measuring my fabric, I spied a fault, so thankfully she over measured my cut which enabled me to self line the dress as the fabric is extremely sheer.

With a coupon, the fabric came down to $7.50 per meter, from $10. As luck would have it, tomorrow this fabric will go on sale for $6 per meter which you can see in the latest Spotlight catalogue. Doh! Even though its only $3 that I’m out, I’m still a little miffed. I can be such a tightwad at times!

Anyway, back to the dress. It was a DREAM to make. So, so easy and not one fitting issue. I made it up as per the instructions, except that I added the skirt last as I find it easier to work with a garment this way.

I’m super happy with this dress, even thought it probably won’t be worn for the next few months, and I think I’ll definitely crack this pattern out again in summer.

Boo to winter! Though it doesn’t look terribly wintery in these photos. I probably sound like a whining Aussie, carrying on about at 19 degree winter day 🙂

  • Cool dress. You'll be ready for the heat next summer.

  • Very cute dress – it looks like a great pattern. Will you be sewing from your plan from now on? I can't wait to see the Burda dress made up. I want to make that one as well (some day).

  • That's what you get for not waiting for a Spotlight sale – there's always one just around the corner! Great dress though, so it was worth paying full price for the fabric

  • I just made this pattern and agree with you, it is a winner and yours looks lovely.

  • Wonderful summery dress, looks perfect.

  • Yes, well worth the price:) Lovely dress, suits you nicely.

  • Cute dress! I've been eying this pattern over the last few weeks. It's a good one isn't it! I'm a bit concerned though it won't be the most flattering cut on me and may highlight my worst bits. It looks great on your shape and those colours are awesome. BTW, it's good to be back blogging!

  • Pretty fabric! It was worth full price! 🙂

  • Looks awesome, I love the fabric and I am planning making my own version of this pattern soon.

  • Ooh it's a verrry nice dress, and looks super expensive – totally worth $3 extra for not waiting for the sale!

  • It's lovely Christy, and it won't be long before the weather is okay to wear it! Great colours as well as great shape.
