Every summer I make swimmers, and this year I tried something new.
A two piece!!
I know I’m not a big person, but since having kids and being too close to 40 for my liking, I haven’t been brave enough to try a bikini. This is an extremely conservative bikini, but I really like wearing it.
After seeing it in photos, I’m not so sure it looks super fab, but I’m also not sure if that’s how I would feel seeing myself in any swimwear photo :/
I drafted the top myself and the bottoms are also drafted be me, but based on my regular Kwik Sew pattern with a full bottom adjustment 😉 The fabric was from Pitt Trading, and was a complete impulse purchase, spurred by Susan. Apparently both are Zimmerman fabrics, and even though the main fabric is very green, I love it.
I also have this Zimmerman swimwear fabric in my stash that I purchased from Tessuti. I guess it will now become my 2017 summer swim suit.
I’ve been a slack blogger and have thought about giving it up, but really, I like having a record of the things that I’ve made. So I’ll hopefully be catching up with a few shorter blog posts over the next couple of weeks.
This is a skirt made with the remnant of linen gauze from Tessuti that I also made this dress with. This linen is super soft and light to wear.
I used the skirt part of Vogue 1174 as the pattern. I had Vogue 1174 out as I had planned to make it up for Frocktails, but alas – time, work, life and other crap got in the way 😉
The top is just another crew neck tank that I can wear with a number of items in my wardrobe. Another simple, but welcome wardrobe staple.
Hopefully more posts will follow.
Not a long post today, but showing off something successful that I made during our recent school holidays.
A simple knit, trapeze dress using a crazy, wild fabric from Tessuti.
I loosely based this on the Tessuti Gabby dress and the Grainline lark tee patterns. I really love this dress and am finding that I get complimented every time I wear it. This might be another case of listening to the people around me and wearing more colour.
Fingers crossed that life settles a little more in the coming fortnight. I haven’t sewn for weeks!
