Kimono V2

My kimono journey continues….
033I actually made this one prior to my Venus kimono. For this, I used a free pattern download from Sew CarolinePresentation2

I really like this kimono. It’s much boxier than the Venus kimono and clearly it is much shorter. The finishing around the neck edge could be a little more sophisticated, but still it’s easy to make and easy to wear.

The fabric is a rayon that I purchased many years ago from Spotlight. You can see the first item I made from it here, all the way back in July 2011. Isn’t it funny looking back at the items you’ve made over the years? I’m not sure these are my colours for a top, but they look right in a kimono. The fabric is also far more suited to a drapey kimono than my last gauzy fabric.

Verdict: wearable and easy to make 🙂 More kimono fun should follow. I have my third cut and ready to sew. Oh when will I find the time?

  • Oh yes, kimono-tastic! I’m also a bit fan after making my first one for frocktails (I think you petted it?!) I used the free pattern from Elle Apparel – it has a more curved back hem and more dropped sleeves I think. Looking froward to seeing #3.

    • Thanks Helen! Yours was fab too! I might check out the Elle Apparell one after my next. So lovely catching up with you on Sat night – we are the wild ones!!

  • Love a kimono though I’ve yet to get my long planned one sorted. The fabric works so well and I really like the colours on you!

  • Lovely!

Ok, so I might have contemplated sewing a kimono during the day before frocktails, now I have 3 patterns to be torn between! – will be onto it asap, and, actually, why stop at 3? So many drapey fabrics, so little time 😉
